The co-directors of the Quebec Network on Nursing Intervention Research (RRISIQ), Ms. José Côté and Céline Gélinas, are proud to announce that an application has been submitted to the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) for the creation of a new thematic network in 2024, the CARING Network. This new proposal was submitted jointly with Mr. Eric Tchouaket and, from Réseau-1 Québec, Mr. Yves Couturier. It is important to specity that this is not a joint application from existing networks, but rather a new network application with a renewed research program.

Derived from a year-long consultation process involving approximately fifty researchers, decision-makers, clinicians, patient partners, family caregiver partners, and students, the mission of the CARING Network is to support, through research, the development, evaluation, and agile and sustainable implementation of innovative and efficient healthcare practices, with and for all care actors. The network targeted innovative practices aim to enhance the well-being of all care actors in a perspective of sustainable health, including patient empowerment, support for family caregiver partners and healthcare personnel.

Embracing a holistic and inclusive vision, the CARING Network is distinctive from other research infrastructures with a focus on practices targeting the wellness of all actors throughout various care pathways, and the implementation of mechanisms to optimize collaborations among all network members. This approach involving all care actors is visionary and will add value to the research networks’ ecosystem in Quebec.

The CARING Network will offer various activities in partnership with several national and international organizations, such as the Canadian Health Workforce Network (CHWN), the Centre for Implementation Research, the Secrétariat international des infirmières et infirmiers de l'espace francophone (SIDIIEF), and many research networks and centers. The activities offered by the CARING Network will engage and mobilize the 400 individuals who have already registered as regular members, partners, or students. Note that it is still possible to join the CARING Network by completing the short online form.

The results of the funding competition will be announced by the FRQS in January 2024, with funding set to commence in April 2024. In the meantime, RRISIQ will pursue its activities.

Finally, RRISIQ would like to sincerely thank all individuals involved in the extensive work that supported the FRQS application for the creation of the CARING Network. Your ideas and reflections, always rich and relevant, have significantly contributed to this proposal.
