Aims and scope
Science of Nursing and Health Practices / Science infirmière et pratiques en santé is a peer-reviewed, international, bilingual, open-access journal free to readers and authors. Produced by the Quebec Network on Nursing Intervention Research (Réseau de recherche en interventions en sciences infirmières du Québec or RRISIQ), the journal strives to democratize access to research results so that the benefits and outcomes of research concerning health practices may be applied to greater effect.
The journal aims to publish original articles that will contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the health field concerning the understanding of the health-related experiences spectrum. Health is defined as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (World Health Organization). This definition is consistent with the core values of the nursing discipline. The journal is interested in scholarly works studying factors that can contribute to health as defined above, i.e., as an holistic phenomenon, notably social and environmental factors, as well as the development or adaptation, implementation and evaluation of best practices. Our journal makes a point of publishing articles of high scientific quality. The journal also encourages the diversity of research questions to optimize knowledge development that is inclusive in its themes and encompassing in its scope.

The journal's editorial team invites authors to submit articles about factors contributing to health and health practices concerning:
- individuals, families, communities and populations,
- organizations,
- pedagogy in health and social services and
- physical, sociopolitical, cultural, and economic environments related to health.

Article types considered
The journal publishes five types of articles:
- Empirical research articles
- Knowledge synthesis articles
- Theoretical discussion and methodology articles
- Knowledge-to-action articles
- Research Protocol articles
Manuscripts may be submitted in English or French. They are published in their original language along with an abstract in both languages.
The journal also accepts Letters to the Editor: comments about a recent published paper to stimulate the scientific discussion.
