Book publication: Why and how to make the humanization of nursing care...

Why and how to make the humanization of nursing care through Caring visible, for the clinic, for management and for the cared-for person

In a healthcare system where patient safety is a growing concern, it is proclaimed that: Nurses save lives! But do we really know why and how, and at what cost under current system conditions? Acknowledging the humanism inherent in “taking care”, and the added value of the quality of being present to others, would enable us optimal and safe cares by achieving coherence between the essence of nursing practice, the organization of care and a healthy working environment.

This book's originality lies in its pragmatic approach to the humanization of care, which is essential if long-term performance objectives are to be achieved in the healthcare system. Intended for nursing students at all levels of education, it contains fundamental documentation that is also highly relevant to nurses in continuing education and to all healthcare professionals. Concepts such as professionalism, continuous quality improvement in nursing care, sustainable patient safety, the patient experience and managing innovation in both clinical and management environments support the proposed model: Dynamique de gouvernance renouvelée par la gestion humaniste de projets© (Renewed governance dynamic through humanistic project management). In Quebec and elsewhere in the world, this volume can address the issues surrounding general clinical practice, advanced nursing practice and the development of new knowledge through nursing research.
