Abstract

Nursing in neonatal intensive care units NICUs can have a significant long-term impact on the health outcomes of premature newborns and their families. This presentation will describe the development and implementation of a virtual community of practice (CVP-Neon@t) for nurses who hold a leadership position in the 6 NICUs in Quebec, aiming to optimize the best neonatal nursing practices: a) optimizing breastfeeding; b) developmental care; c) skin-to-skin contact; and d) family-centered care. Supported by the RRISIQ and the « Pour mieux soigner »  grant from the OIIQ Foundation in 2017, the goal of this innovative project is to consolidate knowledge transfer related to these best nursing practices, share resources between the 6 NICUs of Quebec, harmonize these best practices based on the measurement of quality indicators and optimize interprofessional and interorganizational collaborations.
