The OIIQ Foundation was pleased to announce the award of its first grant Pour Mieux Soigner to the CSSS du Nord de Lanaudière. This grant, worth $ 250,000, will fund the establishment of the first team of nurse proximity consultation in Quebec.

As part of this project, nurses play an expanded role, which will exploit the full potential of their scope of practice including the assessment and coordination of care, education and the application of collective orders. The project will particularly target persons who have a chronic disease (such as diabetes and hypertension ) or have a common minor health problem ( a urinary tract infection or an ear infection, for example). These people will benefit from faster access to frontline services.

To support the implementation of the model developed in Lanaudière Nord and contribute to the production of useful knowledge for deployment in other regions, the CSSS has partnered with a team of university researchers supported by RRISIQ and the Institute of Public Health Research at Université de Montréal (IRSPUM). In collaboration with the CSSS Lanaudière Nord, the evaluation component will be led by Isabelle Brault, PhD, who has expertise in clinical governance of quality improvement projects, and Damien Contandriopoulos, PhD, expert in analysis of organisational forms. The contribution of this research team will allow to measure the project's impact on the development of nursing practice and access to health services for patients.
