Abstract
With the growth of women’s presence in science, the scientific productivity of men and women has been studied from many angles but the outcome remains the same: there is a notable gap between men and women and a disadvantage of the latter. Women remain behind in scientific production and citing rates. They also get inferior salaries than men and get promoted later than them. Maternity, professional rank and a greater multidisciplinarity have been identified as contributing factors to those differences. Is it possible that a certain form of discrimination is covertly at play here? Our studies by Quebec scholars take focus on this question.
