On October 31st the biannual meeting of RRISIQ’s board of directors took place in the cozy atmosphere of McGill’s Faculty Club in Montreal. This special event marked the end of many years of fruitful collaboration with Dr. Ginette Lemire-Rodger, and the beginning of Dr. Jeanne Besner’s mandate as President. There were many superlatives used to describe Dr. Rodger apparent in the remarks of Francine Girard, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Montreal and others. RRISIQ's board members are pleased to welcome Dr. Besner and eager to begin a new era of collaboration under her leadership. Below is a selected list of some of Dr. Besner’s many accomplishments.
Dr Jeanne Besner, new President of RRISIQ Board, and Dr Lemire-Rodger, former President.
JEANNE FRANCOISE BESNER obtained her PhD (Nursing) from the University of Alberta. She worked for many years for Alberta and Calgary Health Services most recently as the Director of the Health System and Workforce Research Unit, and in the past as the Director for Primary Care Development and Public Health Nursing. Her recent research has addressed topics such as equivalent competency assessment (comparing outcomes in internationally and Canadian educated nurses), and optimizing the practice of registered nurses in the context of an interprofessional team in primary care. She has been invited to speak on numerous occasions at international meetings around the world on topics related to health care policy and systems.
