In this presentation, Dr. Jack will share her experiences of using a formative approach to developing a novel, complex intervention designed to support nurse home visitors safely identify and respond to intimate partner violence among young pregnant women and first-time mothers enrolled in a home visiting program. Reflections and lessons learned will be shared related to:

  1. the process and sources of data used to develop a multi-component intervention;
  2. actions to embed a novel innovation into existing services;
  3. and the time and collaborations required to engage and develop an innovation that reflect client needs, is tailored to the practice context, and build on the strengths and competencies of the nurse home visitors!
